Introduction

At telmi and STORYSKIMO, we take your privacy very seriously, which is why we work hard to ensure we have policies and procedures in place that allow us to continue our mission of providing beautiful audio experiences for children while keeping your privacy in mind. The following privacy policy explains what personal data we collect from you, what data you provide to us, how we process this data, and what we do to keep it safe. As such, we look to work in accordance with the GDPR Data Protection Act of 2018.

Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.

Who we are and what we do

We’re STORYSKIMO, the company that through its app “Telmi '' offers an audio playground for kids to unleash their creativity. We are registered at UK Companies House, and our company number is 12462008 with ICO registration code ZA770499. Our office is based at 85 Tottenham Court Road London W1T 4TQ.

We collect personal data of the following types of people to allow us to undertake our business:

  • You, our members or prospective members, including children, parents, and teachers who listen to, record, and contribute audio stories to the service. (Adult users of our service may be account administrators and/or contributors of audio recordings; child users may only be contributors with the consent of whoever has parental responsibility for them.)

  • Schools that we partner with for the provision of our service.

  • Business organizations who use our API

  • Our own employees, contractors, technology partners, and shareholders.

We collect information about you to carry out our core business and ancillary activities.


Information you give to us or we collect about you.

This is information about you that you give us by registering on or filling in forms on our Sites, www.STORYSKIMO.com, www.telmi.io, https://app.telmi.io/ and app Telmi, and corresponding with us by phone, email, or otherwise. It includes information you provide when you register, enter information in our database, subscribe to our services, record/contribute a story, enter a competition, register for a promotion or survey, and when you report a problem with our Site. We collect information about you when you log in and how you interact with the Services, the features you use, clicks, log information about your use of the Services, and how you interact with other users.

We receive information about you directly from you when you engage with the Site and automatically when you engage with the Site or open or click the emails we send you (See Information You Provide Us and Cookies and Other Tracking Technology). We receive information from third-party sources like lead generation providers, content sponsors, event sponsors, or social media platforms. The information we collect from third-party sources may include marketing or demographic information, contact information (name, email, phone number), information about your profile on those platforms, or information about purchasing intent. We may combine this information with the information we collect. We may receive information about you from other sources like third-party service providers, public databases, and our business and channel partners. This information may include contact information, address, job title, email address, phone number. We may combine this information with information we collect through other means.

We collect information about the content you provide in the services, including but not limited to uploaded audio recordings, comments, and “likes.” Although we stay vigilant, you have the responsibility to make sure your Child does not expose any personally identifiable information in the information they share on Telmi.

The information you give us or what we collect about you may include your name, email address, age, date of birth, school, your voice, and other information. We also collect payment information you enter, which we share with third parties to process the payment.

We are sensitive to the privacy and child protection issues that arise from being provided with information that uniquely identifies an individual child: we do not wish to be put in a position whereby we hold that kind of information. As a result, we ask at most for Children’s first names. You may enter a nickname or any made-up name if you wish to ensure your Child’s privacy.

Information we collect about you when you visit our website.

With regard to each of your visits to our Site, we will automatically collect the following information:

  • Technical information, including the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet, your login information if applicable, browser type and version, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform;

  • Information about your visit, including the full Uniform Resource Locators (URL) and how you interact with our Site.


Purposes of the processing and the legal basis for the processing

We use information held about you in the following ways:

  • To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts we intend to enter into or have entered into between you and us and to provide you with the information and services that you request from us or we think would be of interest to you because it is relevant to your use of Telmi

  • To provide you with information about other services we offer that are similar to those that you already utilize, been provided with, or enquired about


Our legal basis for the processing of personal data is our legitimate business interests, described in more detail below, although we may also rely on contract, legal obligation, and consent for specific uses of data.

We will rely on legal obligation if we are legally required to hold information about you to fulfill our legal obligations. For example, we may be subject to a government or police request to hold information about you in rare circumstances.


Our Legitimate Business Interests

We have a number of lawful reasons that mean we can use your personal information, including your consent, where you give it. One such reason is called ‘legitimate interests’. In general terms, “Legitimate Interests” means we can process your personal information if:

  • We have a genuine and legitimate reason; and

  • We are not harming any of your rights and interests.

Should we want or need to rely on consent to lawfully process your data, we will request your consent orally, by email, or through other online processes (such as providing you with a non-obligatory checkbox). Where consent is the lawful basis for our processing, you have the right to withdraw your consent to this particular processing at any time. You may withdraw your consent by contacting privacy@telmi.io


Any user of Telmi who is under the age of 13 cannot legally provide their own consent. Whoever holds parental responsibility for such users must give consent on their Child’s behalf if they wish for them to use the service.


One example of asking for your consent is when we ask you to subscribe to our newsletter, which you can opt out of at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe button at the bottom.


Other Uses we will make of your data:

  • To provide our service to you

  • To notify you about changes to our service;

  • To ensure that content from our Site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer; and

  • To allow us to generate and curate the best audio experiences for our members and their children to enjoy.

  • To protect our legitimate interests and the integrity of Telmi


We will use your information:

  • To administer our website and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes;

  • To improve our website to ensure that our service is provided in the most effective manner for you;

  • As part of our efforts to keep our website safe and secure;

  • To ensure the best audio stories are heard by you

  • To archive and share stories with other people, including with other users of the Services by sharing and displaying your username and, depending on your story privacy settings, your audio recording, and metadata in connection with any User Content you upload to the Site

  • To measure or understand the effectiveness of advertising we serve to you and others, and to deliver relevant advertising to you; and

  • To make suggestions and recommendations to you and other users of our Site about goods or services that may interest you or them.


We only undertake automated decision-making for the purposes described above, such as to provide you with more stories we think you will like. We do not make inferences about you or profile you, apart from general data analytics about our customers (such as their general location). We do use our computer systems to search and identify personal data in accordance with parameters set by a person.

There are certain third-party providers we work with to help us to deliver the best service we can. We will disclose your personal information to third parties for the following reasons:

  • For purposes you have consented to: We may share your information with companies, organizations, and other third parties with your consent or to fulfill the purpose for which you provided the information.

  • To Provide the Services, Partner Programs, or Communities: We may share your information with other Telmi members. We will also share your information with third-party applications (at your direction or the direction of an account owner) when an account user uses the Services. To deliver the Site, Services, partner programs, or communities, we may share your information with our service providers. If you participate on our website, we may share your information with other partners, community members, customers, or other users (like when you comment, share information, or record audio).

  • For Legal Reasons: We may share your information if we believe that it is necessary to comply with any court order, law, legal obligation, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request. We may share your information if we believe that it is necessary to enforce our rights (including, without limitation, our rights under the terms of service, the rights of our customers, or the rights of our users). We may share your information if we believe that it is necessary or appropriate to protect our rights or safety or the rights or safety of our customers, other users, partners, or service providers. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations.

  • For business purposes: We provide information to vendors and services providers to help us provide the Site, Services, and partner programs for our business purposes. Examples of our service providers include hosting or infrastructure providers, chat widgets, helpdesk ticket providers, website hosts, customer relationship management providers, email providers, collaboration tools, and other service providers.

  • If we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we will disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.

  • If Telm ior substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which personal data held by Telm iabout our customers will be one of the transferred assets.

  • In cases where the data is anonymized or in aggregate and cannot reasonably identify you


 Where we store and process your personal data

We try to store the data we collect about you on servers within the European Economic Area (”EEA”). We follow applicable data protection laws when transferring personal data. If you are resident in or a visitor from the EEA, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we will protect your Personal Information when it is transferred outside of such locations by processing it in a territory that the European Commission has determined provides an adequate level of protection for Personal Information; or otherwise implementing appropriate safeguards to protect your Personal Information, including through the use of Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism approved by the European Commission.


All information you provide to us is stored on these secure servers, and any payment transactions are encrypted. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password that enables you to access certain parts of our Site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone and to use a unique password for Telmi.


Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our Site; any transmission is at your own risk. If you are not comfortable with this risk, please stop using the Site and contact privacy@telmi.io subject line REMOVE ME to have your account and data deleted. 


Although Data will often be held in servers based in Europe, it may be accessed by remote staff working outside the EU. Such staff will be given appropriate training and only given access to personal data as far as it is necessary to perform their roles.


Retention of your data

We will retain accurate data and only retain personal data for as long as we need it for our legitimate business interests or as long as you still consent to our processing of it.


Your rights

You have the right to ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. We will usually inform you (before collecting your data) if we intend to use your data for such purposes or if we intend to disclose your information to any third party for such purposes, and we will collect express consent from you if legally required prior to using your personal data for these purposes.


Our Site may, from time to time, contain links to and from the websites of our partner networks, advertisers, and affiliates. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. of the personal information that we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate information we hold about you corrected.


  • Request erasure

of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal information where there is no good reason for us to continue processing it. You also have the right to ask us to delete or remove your personal information where you have exercised your right to object to processing. 

 

If you have submitted an audio recording to Telmi, if we have connected it to personal information about you, you may at any time request that the audio is removed. If the administrator is unable or unwilling to remove the recording, Users can contact us at privacy@telmi.io and request erasure.


  • Object to processing

of your personal information where we are relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party), and there is something about your circumstances that makes you object to processing on this ground. You also have the right to object where we are processing your personal information for direct marketing purposes.


  • Request the restriction of processing

of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to suspend the processing of personal information about you, for example, if you want us to establish its accuracy or the reason for processing it.


  • Request the transfer

of your personal information to another party in certain formats, if practicable.


  • Make a complaint

The Data Protection Act 2018 gives you the right to access information held about you. We also encourage you to contact us to ensure your data is accurate and complete.

A subject access request should be submitted to our Data Protection Officer data@telmi.io. No fee will apply as laid down by The Data Protection Act 2018.
